What is a Diamond Cut Alloy Wheel?

Diamond cut alloys are now the most common type of alloy wheel. Around 80% of all new cars are fitted with diamond cut alloys. The wheels are distinguishable by their polished metal outer face. This is created by a cnc lathe. The wheel is clamped into a chuck and rotates at high speed whilst a diamond tipped cutting tool passes over the face of the wheel ‘cutting’ a small amount off and creating a beautiful polished finish.

What’s the difference between Standard Alloys and Diamond Cut?

Standard alloy wheels are all one single colour. Usually all silver, all grey or all black. Diamond cut alloys usually have grey or black spokes that contrast with the polished metal face as you will see in the images above. Also a diamond cut alloy will have a highly polished, reflective face with the appearance of very fine lines created as its cut on the lathe.
